Collagen is the main structural protein of the dermis and is responsible for its cohesion and firmness. A placebo-controlled clinical study involved 76 women of Asian and European origin. The participants took 5 g of fish-derived collagen peptides daily or a placebo, and skin elasticity and the volume of wrinkles around the eyes were measured at the start of the study, after 4 and 8 weeks of supplementation, and additionally 4 weeks after it ended. After just 4 weeks, a statistically significant improvement in skin elasticity compared with the placebo group was recorded (p<0.05), and the effect was maintained both after 8 weeks and after supplementation ended [3]. Improvement was observed in participants of both Asian and European origin.

WRINKLE REDUCTION

In the same study, a statistically significant reduction in the volume of wrinkles around the eyes was also recorded – after 8 weeks of supplementation it amounted to 15% compared with the baseline value, and the effect was also confirmed after the supplementation period ended [3].
